The baseball team won 12-1 and 12-5 in the two games. Hayden Goveia led the team offensively with six RBIs, while Mickey Smith drove in three and Hunter Koehler brought in two. Mikey Gonzalez also knocked in a run, with Dreyton Gleason recording the win in the first game, allowing no earned runs in five innings. Goveia then picked up the win in the second game, with Smith recording the final six outs.
"Today's sweep was very important for region rankings and power points for the conference," Head Coach Billy Fregozo said. "As a team, last week we talked about winning both doubleheaders and the importance. In game one, Dreyton Gleason was outstanding. He kept the ball down and got a ton of ground balls. Everyone on the team contributed to both wins tonight."
Despite the softball team allowing their first run in two weeks, the Dust Devils picked up a 14-1 win. Kennadee Brown hit the only home run in the game and also had a triple. Karina Pulu led the way with three RBIs, and Aaliyah Rodriguez, Brown and Morgan MacDonald all knocked in two runs. Tamarie Williams, Trinity Williams, Carissa Campos and Vivianca Torres drove in one. Trinity also picked up her ninth win on the mound with a complete game.
Next, both teams will return to the field today, playing at Parker High School. First pitch is scheduled for 3:45 p.m.
