"Committing feels good," Hogencamp said. "I finally have the chance to stop stressing and know for a fact where I am going. I am ready to put my all into it and plan on making a difference in both programs."
Hogencamp has played baseball since he was 6, playing mostly for Venom travel ball. He began playing football when he was 11 and hasn't stopped since.
In high school, Hogencamp has played four years on varsity and has hit over .420 in the last three years with seven home runs and 76 RBIs. He also had 20 doubles and seven triples while also shining on the mound with an 11-2 record. This past season, he helped lead River Valley to the state semifinals.
"Gavin has been a tremendous individual on and off the field," head coach Billy Fregozo said. "Super humble, kind and respectful to everyone. Spending as much time as I have with him has been very special. A hard working young man and gives it his all. He is the type of kid to bring it to the field and leave on the field. You don’t find too many kids like him."
In football, Hogencamp started on varsity for the last two years and threw 3,176 yards with 36 touchdown passes. He also rushed for 1,238 yards with 14 more scores, with his team going 16-5 in his two years on varsity as the starting quarterback.
While Hogencamp knows it will be challenging playing two sports and also going to school, he says he is ready to go.
