"It really is stress relief on finally committing," Farnham said. "I was honestly scared of what my life would be like after high school. I was also scared to disappoint my parents on how my life would turn out."
Farnham started playing baseball when he was around five and has loved it ever since. He played mainly with the Tri-City Venom. He also competed for CBA, the Knights from Phoenix Flagstaff Force, and Chaos from Bullhead. However, Farnham says he will remember his four years on the varsity team most under head coach Billy Fregozo.
"He always said when I was young that I would be his varsity catcher, and I was," Farnham added. "Even though he is stern and hard on us, it definitely made me a better baseball player and a smarter young man in general with the way he coaches."
Farnham shined offensively during his sophomore and junior season, hitting .333 in 2021 before batting .493 as a junior last year. He also added two doubles, seven triples, and 27 RBIs. The bat cooled off a bit as a senior, but Farnham blossomed behind the plate. He was named a gold glove winner and worked extremely well with the pitching staff. They had an era of 3.39 and reached the State Semifinals.
"His work ethic is outstanding and his love for the game will keep him going at the next level," Fregozo said. "He earned every opportunity to go play ball at Midland University. I’m super proud to have been a part of his baseball career. I wish him the best of luck and can’t wait to follow him during his upcoming season."
While Farnham has never been to Nebraska before, he was intrigued by the campus. Before heading to college, Farnham is hoping to get bigger and stronger to fill the catcher position.
